Dark aubergine colour with full coverage. A very expressive nose with dark fruit, smoky plums, brushwood and black licorice. On the palate sweet, juicy and feminine in style, full of cassis and ripe blackberries and an earthy quality that adds some depth. Very nice with a medium body, smooth and very accessible, resulting in a pleasant texture. The ’05 ends with a long and lively finish. This will further deepen during maturation in the bottle. The tannins are mild and came just in time for the final act.
Storage: Bottles should lie horizontally, in a cool dark place. Matures slowly, develops and refines in the bottle for decades.
Serve: Decant and serve between 16 and 18ºC, in a suitable glass. Walnuts are an excellent complement to Vintage Port, as are various cheeses such as Stilton and Dorset Blue Vinny. So are dried fruits such as apricots or figs. Or just enjoy the unadulterated taste in a good glass with good company.
