The dark colored 2003 Quinta de Roriz Vintage Port bursts from the glass with lots of flowers, smoky oak and black cherries. Sweet, creamy, and satin-woven, this medium to full-bodied effort is pure, full of fruit, and harmonious. Abundant amounts of blackberry, blueberry and black cherry are found in its expressive personality and in its long, flavorful and seamless finish. Expected term: 2020-2030 +.
The combination of small grapes and traditional foot pressing has produced a wine with an intense purple, almost black color. A very pronounced nose of cinnamon and violets with mineral notes. In the mouth, the dark chocolate stands out. Ripe tannins, a little peppery spiced with minerals. It goes on and on in the mouth. Very impressive and muscular.
Very dark red / purple. Almost opaque, even when held up to the light. The nose is soft and fruity with some spice and chocolate in the background. The palate is full, beautifully sweet with a smooth texture up front and firm tannins and noticeable acidity on the back. It shows excellent balance with seamlessly integrated alcohol and a long lingering finish. This Vintage consists of a combination of Vinha Velha 35%, Touriga Nacional 28%, Tinta Roriz 22%, Tinta Barroca 9%, Sousão 6%.
Storage: Bottles should lie horizontally, in a cool dark place. Matures slowly, develops and refines in the bottle for decades.
Serve: Decant and serve between 16 and 18ºC, in a suitable glass. Walnuts are an excellent complement to Vintage Port, as are various cheeses such as Stilton and Dorset Blue Vinny. So are dried fruits such as apricots or figs. Or just enjoy the unadulterated taste in a good glass with good company.
