Quinta do Panascal is a category A Quinta located in the heart of the Tavora Valley, in the Cima Corgo region of the Douro. The Quinta undertook an ambitious planting programme from 1987-1995 and is now one of the largest Quintas in the Douro Valley, producing a top quality Port. The decision to bottle a Quinta do Panascal Vintage is made when the wine is judged to be of exceptional quality. Fonseca’s Vintage Port spends two years in wooden barrels before it is bottled. However, the wine is only released after bottling after 10 years of aging in the cellars of Fonseca.
Opaque purple color with narrow purple edge. The nose opens with an uninhibited stream of dense concentrated cassis and black cherry laced with a lush sweetness of molasses and dark chocolate. As it develops, notes of damask plum and prune emerge from the seemingly impenetrable layer of dark berries, followed by intoxicating scents of aromatic spices and exotic notes of black pepper and sandalwood.
On the palate, the wine’s rich lush fruitiness combines with the close grain and beautifully integrated tannins to produce an uninhibited burst of texture and flavor. The luscious black fruit flavors are seemingly endless and are lifted by a spicy freshness on the finish.

Nice nose: sweet blackcurrant with a savory spiciness and a rich blackcurrant variety. The palate is dense and spicy with great concentration and delicious taste. Rich fruit of blackcurrants and blackberries with a nice tannic structure. A beautiful port with a nice density and structure.”
