The Colheita Port 1997 has a beautiful brown-red colour. Initially aromas of dried fruit and notes of cinnamon, coffee, raisins and currants. Good volume on the palate with spicy notes and a nice sweetness.
Taste: Tawny in colour, with delicious aromas of brown sugar and roasted nuts. Excellent length on finish with nuts and raisins.
Storage: Store upright in a cool dark place. The Colheita does not develop significantly further in the bottle and can be stored for over ten years without losing its freshness.
Presentation: In warm weather, serve slightly chilled, between 12 and 13°C, in an appropriate glass. Goes well with all kinds of desserts, especially prepared with eggs and nuts almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts …) and cheese board.
Tasting notes: Drink. Very mature and harmonious Tawny / Colheita-style of Port. Sweet, but not overbearing. Pomegranate color; plums, figs, black cherries; grapey, plummy, caramel, medium body, good acidity, good heat, firm grainy tannins, lingering finish.
Good balance of fruit, secondary flavors, acid, body and heat. Good with chocolate.
