The Dalva Colheita Port 1995 has a deep, dark, orange color with notes of red/orange. The nose is a wonderful mix of aromas, with red fruit under the spice, minced pie, nutty almond and walnuts.
On the palate, the Port shows considerable depth, with the sweetness nicely tempered by refreshing fruit. There are nice notes of coffee, nuts and the oxidized character. The finish is long and lush without being cloying.
Taste: Tawny in colour, with delicious aromas of brown sugar and roasted nuts. Excellent length on finish with nuts and raisins.
Storage: Store upright in a cool dark place. The Colheita does not develop significantly further in the bottle and can be stored for over ten years without losing its freshness.
Presentation: In warm weather, serve slightly chilled, between 12 and 13°C, in an appropriate glass. Goes well with all kinds of desserts, especially prepared with eggs and nuts almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and cheese board.
Tasting notes:
A full, savoury character on the nose and in the mouth. Still very fresh and rich in the mid-palate with a hint of its former tannic grip and youthful vibrancy on the finish. Bottled in 2017 at a wonderful stage in its evolution and actually a bargain at this price.
The highly aromatic nose offers nutty aromas that contribute to the elegant and very attractive full-bodied taste of orange, caramel, brown sugar and fig. Very complex offering that is balanced and supple overall, while showing great finesse. The length of the finish is excellent.
Really an excellent price. It’s hard to imagine paying such a low price for a product that’s already 20 years old. The flavor profile is full of cooking spices, caramel, tobacco and leather. The colors are beautiful orange with hints of garnet. Fantastic value, and a real treat for those who have not tasted a Tawny Port before.
